Waiting on Hold

Few things test our inner peace quite like this sentence:

“Your call is important to us. Please continue to hold.”

Apparently, my call is important. Just not that important.

We live in a world where we can order groceries from the couch, text across the country instantly, and get mildly irritated when a webpage takes three seconds to load.

We have become very good at fast.

Waiting? Not so much.

But here’s the interesting part: sometimes the stress isn’t actually the waiting.

It’s our resistance to it.

We are mentally yelling, I don’t have time for this! while our body responds as though being caller number 17 is an actual emergency.

Maybe being put on hold can become a tiny reminder:

Unclench your jaw. Drop your shoulders. Take a slow breath. Stop fighting the five minutes you can’t control.

And maybe we need places in our lives where we intentionally put everything else on hold.

That’s part of what self care is.

Twenty minutes in the ReGen Pod isn’t about accomplishing more. There are no emails to answer, errands to run, or people needing something from you.

You get to stop.

Red and near infrared light do their work while, for once, you don’t have to.

In a world constantly telling us to hurry up, perhaps one of the healthiest things we can occasionally do is put life on hold.

And because we know you’re tired of being put on hold, I’ll end here. 😉
